LAUGHING MATTER, 2021
Art Houses Whitley Bay. Made for LOCALwifi a digital public art project.
This was part of a collection of site-specific digital commissions by several artists.
For my piece I animated stories from the junk and clutter of members of the community who sent me photos of stuff in their homes.
Animism as an anti-landfill gesture.
The work was viewed on people's phones using a specially installed local wifi network during the pandemic.
You could click on the pulsating icons on my digital pile of clutter to find 11 strange short animations, and you could move the clutter around on screen to rifle through the collective hoards of the community.
Thanks to Arts Council National Lottery Grants, Whitley Bay and North Tyneside Council.

Go to Whitley Bay, it has Battenberg ice cream and sometimes dolphins.
