For 10+ years I've run funny experimental live art nights where people can test works in progress.
The first series of Unperforming nights was site specific to exhibitions I curated in empty offices and warehouses, then we moved to Artsadmin's Toynbee Arts Bar as I was an Artsadmin bursary artist and the energy was just right. I've performed at many other funny performance art / experimental comedy nights like Candle Hirst's Front Room Spectacular, El Gold and Lucas Evamy's HeyMum, Pitzhanger Manor's Marcus Orlandi takeover, Dateagle's Full English, DeptfordX, Coastal Currents, Paula Crutchlow's Scare the Horses, Club Urania Cambridge Junction, James Ward's Boring Conference, John Luke Robert's Terrible Wonderful Adaptations, Patrick Cole's Dog's Dinner, Robin Ince and Charlotte Young's Your Culture is Ailing Your Art is Dead, Zoe Portela's Ballads from the Settee, Laurels Comedy Club Whitley Bay ArtHouses takeover, and Seamonsters (which I also curated/hosted).
These spaces have been crucial to my happiness and developing new material from the shambolic mumblecore lavastreams of pure creativity with very little time to plan and very deep trust in winging it together with the audience.

Above: Moment from Ballads from the Settee 28/10/25 (image credit Lolly Adams). The audience made me a football costume as the ecstatic crescendo of an improvised poem.
Below: Various moments from various performances over the years.
Below is a trailer for an early Unperforming, below that are fragments of solo rambles and two collaborative sketches with my constant friend and occasional collaborator Fritha Jenkins performed at various 'Unperforming' events at Artsadmin 2018-19. Unperforming was a performance night series featuring various artists working with humour.
